Bee bookmark felt craft

Bee bookmark no-sew felt craft

Make a Bee bookmark with this easy no-sew felt craft. The finished bee is super cute and can’t wait to mark your page!

This is a nice craft for kids and adults to do together. Felt can be a difficult material to cut so if you have younger kids they will probably need help with that part.

Bees and flowers go together. This honey bee always has one nearby which is why she’s absolutely buzzing with happiness!

You can choose to have the bee or the flower poking out the top of your book—or both, if the page is the right size.

The finished bookmark makes a sweet handmade gift idea too and is perfect to add to a book gift (or even a book voucher).

Want to make one? Here’s how …

How to make a bee bookmark

You will need:

  • Felt or felt scraps in yellow, white, black, green and a bright colour of your choice for the flower
  • Lead Pencil
  • Sharp scissors
  • Hot glue gun – for kids I recommend using a low-temp hot glue gun (affiliate link). An alternative is to use fabric glue applied with a Q-tip
  • Sharpie markers in pink and black
  • The printable pattern – enter your details in the form below, and it will be emailed to you

How to:

Cut the shapes out from the template and trace onto felt in the appropriate colour using a pencil. Cut these out.

Bee bookmark step one

Draw a simple face on one of the bee body shapes using the black marker. Use the pink one to add two spots for cheeks.

Glue the black stripes across the bee’s stomach. Trim the excess black felt from the sides.

Use the remaining body shape for the back. Glue the stinger cutout to the base. Glue the antennae and wings in place.

Now create the flower and stem by gluing the spot to the centre of the flower, and the stem to the back. Glue the opposite end of the stem to the back of the bee’s head.

Glue the bee’s back on, covering the part where the stem is visible on the bee’s head.

Your bookmark is done! Now she just needs a name. And yes, if it’s a pollen-gathering bee it’s definitely going to be a she because male bees don’t make honey (they’re all drones).
